Fun Fact

I unveiled this app at my thesis presentation at the Savannah College of Art and Design, soon after which I bagged the title of Excelsus Laureate 2019 and simultaneously got my job as a Product Designer at The Weather Channel: an IBM Business. This project was a turning point in my career as a UX Designer.

 Pain Points

Brag Points

  • Family members and patient reminisce about happier times and positive memories which make the distance seem less intimidating

  • Helps the patient feel wanted and gives them importance

  • Allows the caregiver to connect with the patient on a more personal level

  • Builds trust between the patient, family member, and caregiver

  • Allows patient to connect with other patients facing similar issues

Flows

I constructed 3 flows to help inform my app screens:
1. Between the patient and caregiver
2. Between the patient and family member
3. Between the patient and another patient

App Features

  • Memories: All photographs shared between patient and their family member

  • Favorites: All posts that are ‘liked’

  • UPdates: Gratitude journal. Daily positive data log for the patient and family member to fill every night before they sleep

  • Badges: As a way of gamification, the app generates special badges for each user

Branding

I crafted a style tile to help me figure out the look and feel of the app. The logo went through a couple of iterations until I arrived at a monoline serif script.
